Quickly Find The Scene You Want To Change
MODIFY's Course Map and Lesson flowcharts make navigation through course material a snap. It only takes a few seconds to navigate through a course to find the scene you want to work with.
The rectangular shapes (blocks) represent individual program segments and learner decision points (interactions). The lines and arrowheads connecting the blocks show the flow or direction of the program.
Manipulate The Basic Building Blocks Of The Course
Playback Scripts contain a series of commands that define which multimedia files are played in which sequence. You can alter the original commands or add new commands.
Add, Change, Delete, Translate, and Narrate Any Question
The Question folder gives you the ability to control every aspect of quiz questions; including lead-in presentations and remedial instruction.
- Add new questions.
- Change existing questions.
- Delete any question you wish.
- Enter new question screen text in other languages.
- You can even add your own narration.
Control Your Training Right Down To Individual Learning Objectives
Most lessons end with a quiz. A quiz uses questions to assess mastery of each learning objective. Each question is linked to a learning objective. You can modify any objective in a course.
Clarify objectives in terms relative to your workplace. Translate objectives into other languages to support your multilingual versions.
Add, Change, Delete, and Translate The Topical Index Too!
The Topics Folder allows you to edit the Topical Index for the course. You can add, delete, or change entries on the topical index list and you can even change the Playback Scripts for the entries.
- Add your additional content material to the index.
- Remove entries related to materials you have deleted from the course.
- Translate the index to support your multilingual course versions.
Add, Change, Delete, Translate, and Narrate Glossary Of Terms and Definitions
The Terms Folder allows you to edit the glossary of terms for the course. You can add, delete or change terms and their definitions.

· Explain and define aspects of your operations that relate to the course topics.
· Translate terms and definitions to support multilingual versions of your courses.

Bonus Resources On The Course CD-ROM
All Mastery AdvantageTM courses include extra files on the CD to make your modification go quickly and easily and result in a more professional outcome. Each Mastery
AdvantageTM course CD includes some or all of these resources:
- Audio "patch" files that help you blend your modifications seamlessly into the course.
- A complete transcription of the original course to document the original production and audio patch files.
- Work files of most graphic screens and graphic elements which you can use to create new graphics.
- Alternate "cuts" of video scenes to make it easier for you to rearrange video scenes and create additional insertion points for your new content.
Add Other Languages or Create Alternate Versions.
Implementing an alternate language is simple to accomplish. There is no limit to the number of languages or versions that you can have.
Alternate versions are automatically detected by the Runtime System. If the version is a language change, your new language files are substituted for the original sound tracks and your replacement question, Glossary, and Index text is substituted for the original question, Glossary, and Index text.
When you create a new language or version, a subdirectory (or folder) is created within the course's directory containing a duplicate of all variable course data files and scripts.
After you have created an alternate version or language, you can modify it by selecting the new version from the
MODIFYTM welcome screen.
You Have Total Control Over How Alternate Versions Are Deployed
Using the Language/Version options in Training Manager, the training administrator for the local training workstation can allow users to select the course version when they take a course, or specify that a particular language or version be offered exclusively.
Add The Mastery AdvantageTM To The Rest Of Your Training.
Course "Shells" can be purchased from Mastery to allow you to create your own courses using
MODIFYTM. You specify the general structure of the course and Mastery returns a floppy diskette containing an installable and modifiable course. The Shell is actually a skeleton of a course on which you add your course materials.
Procedure For Obtaining Course Shells
Specify the following information for your planned course:
- Course title.
- Lesson titles.
- Whether quiz questions will be narrated.
- Whether the course will feature a Topical Index.
- Whether the course will feature a Glossary of Terms.
"Place Keepers" Make It Easy For You To Add Your Content To Shells
Your course shells will include starter files to help you get a quick start. All the basic script files are included with links to instructional "place keeper" screens that give you a helping "nudge", starting you off in the right direction.
